Anti Ragging Cell

Ragging is a serious offense that can have severe psychological and physical consequences on individuals. It is a form of harassment, bullying, or abuse—often inflicted on new students in educational institutions by their seniors. To ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment, Trinity College has implemented strict anti-ragging policies in line with legal frameworks and ethical guidelines.

The primary objective of a ragging policy is to prevent, prohibit, and address any form of ragging through awareness, monitoring, and strict disciplinary actions. This policy outlines the objectives, types of offenses, consequences for violators, and support mechanisms available for victims.

By enforcing a strong zero-tolerance approach, Trinity College aims to foster a culture of mutual respect, academic integrity, and student well-being.

Supreme Court of India’s significant judgment on ragging dated May 8, 2009 is aimed at curbing ragging in higher education institutions. The University Grants Commission (UGC) was instructed to incorporate anti- ragging regulations in its guidelines to establish anti-ragging committees to monitor and prevent ragging in higher education institutions.

Ragging is totally prohibited in Trinity College Jalandhar inside or outside the campus and anyone found guilty of ragging or abetting ragging whether, actively or passively or promote ragging anyway, will be liable to be punished in accordance with the UGC regulations 2009.
