Gender Equity Forum

Following UGC Guidelines and taking into account the need of the hour, we consider both the genders equal, therefore to cater the needs of both girls and boys; the women empowerment cell has been renamed as ‘Gender Equity Forum’ on 11th February 2022.

Gender equity means providing equal opportunities to male, female and transgender in political, economic, education and health aspects. So, the Forum is dedicated to discussing equality. It highlights how aspects of gender need to be included in response to gender based violence and will organize awareness programs in order to have a holistic understanding of the reality faced by male, female and transgender. All stakeholders including Civil Societies, Non-Government Organizations, Associations and Experts will be invited to take part, because gender equality concerns everyone.

The goal of the Gender Equity Forum is not only to raise awareness about the gender dimensions but also to develop applicable forward-looking recommendations on how to address persistent barriers for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in these areas through practical activities i.e. Nukkad Natak, Slogan Writing, Poster Making, Elocution etc.

Initiative of Gender Champions

At Trinity College, Jalandhar

Gender socialization begins early, and it is important to initiate change process at a young age to shape attitudes and transform behaviors. Schools and colleges play a major role in this regard, because students spend large amounts of time engaged with peers in such settings. Creating positive social norms in educational institutions that value girls and their rights is important to improve the well-being of girls and achieve long-term and sustainable social change.

To promote gender equality, guaranteed by Article 15 of the Indian Constitution, we need to change our attitude at all levels- home, school, workplace and so on. The Government of India envisages engagement of Gender Champions in all schools and colleges across the country.

Program Guidelines
