Code of Conduct for Students

THE TRINITY FAMILY

All members of Trinity College belong to Trinity family. Hence the family spirit must be adhered to by all students and staff. Our parents, Alumni and guests all belong to our extended family. Smooth relationship can be maintained with all the members if the following campus etiquette is followed:

CAMPUS ETIQUETTE:

The word 'Etiquette' means good and proper manners. Good manners are the practical application of the golden rule "Do for others what you want them to do for you". (Gospel according to St. Mathew 7:12).

Good manners are part of courteous, considerate social behaviour. Here are some guidelines for this-

  • • Maintain a respectful attitude towards authorities, elders and teachers. Greet your teachers when you meet them.
  • • You must apologise to people if you feel that you have hurt or disturbed them.
  • • Always thank the people when something is done for you.
  • • Say 'Excuse me' before we do or say something that could annoy somebody or when we want to attract somebody's attention.
  • • The common answers to 'thank you' are 'you are welcome'. 'It is a pleasure', 'That is all right', 'Don't mention please'.

DRESS CODE:

"Modesty is the citadel of beauty"

1. All students must be neat and modest in their dressing. College is not a place for fashion parade.

2. Low waist jeans and casuals are not proper outfits for serious students.

3. Girl students should avoid wearing gaudy, sleeveless or skin tight clothes.

4. On all Mondays and Thursdays students should come in prescribed dress code.

CLEANLINESS:

'Cleanliness is next to Godliness'. Keep your class room and college premises neat and clean. Don't throw litter around. Students and faculty alike should desist from the use of plastic and other non bio – degradable materials in the campus. Always go by the adage, “A thing of beauty is joy forever". When you leave the toilet, leave it clean and tidy.

BE SILENCE:

Strict Silence must be observed in the library and lab. Office premises including Principal's office. Students should observe silence along the verandas and passage during working hours.

CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL:

Consumption of alcoholic beverages, psychedelic drugs and such substances, smoking in or outside the campus is strictly prohibited. Students are advised to keep themselves away from any outsider who may have direct or indirect dealings in such substances. Chewing gum in the campus is also discouraged.

ATTENDANCE, ABSENCE AND LEAVES:

1. 75% attendance is mandatory for writing Board examination. Condonation in this regard will not be granted.

2. Leave applications have to be submitted in advance for any absence exceeding three days.

3. All leave applications in the prescribed format have to be countersigned by class teacher, parents/guardian/hostel director and sanctioned by the coordinator & Principal.

4. Class teacher can sanction leave up to two days. Absence without permission from classes, house exam, mentors group, special functions etc. will be fined as per notice.

5. In case of serious illness, leave must be intimated to the class teacher and application must be submitted as early as possible along with medical certificate.

6. Absence without leave will be viewed as serious irregularity. Their names will be struck off from rolls.

7. Students are not allowed to leave till the last period is over or before their time table schedule is over.

TRANSPORT & USE OF VEHICLES:

Students are not allowed to drive around the campus beyond the parking zone.

8. Motor cycle is not a resting place or meeting place. Do not use it while you are inside the college.

9. Students should not park their motor cycle in front of the main gate or on the road leading to the Seminary. It should be parked in the specified place only.

MOBILE PHONES:

1. Mobile phone should be switched off inside college building. Students can use it in College ground.

2. If any student is found using mobile phone inside the college building, it will be confiscated. It will be given back only after two weeks and on payment of a fine of Rs. 200/-

3. Mobile Phones confiscated second time from the same person will not be returned at all.

FINES:

1. Those who do not attend a lecture without due permission will have to pay fine.

2. All the fines will be credited to Madad-E-Kharach fund managed by faculty members.

ENTRY TO THE COLLEGE:

1. The main gate of the college will be locked from 10.15 a.m. to 12.50 p.m. A student can go out of the college only with the written permission of the Principal or any teacher of the Discipline Committee or class teacher during these hours.

2. After 10.15 a.m., student will be allowed to enter the college campus with special permission of Principal only.

3. If any student comes late in the college or goes out of the college between 10.15 a.m. to 12.50 p.m., he/she must enter his/her name in the register maintained by the gatekeeper.

OFFICE PROCEDURES:

College office functions as a support for the smooth functioning of the college and to cater to the needs of the students. Students are requested to follow the following procedures for services from the office:

  • • Office will be open from 9 am to 4 pm.
  • • 1.00 pm to 1.30 pm will be lunch time for office staff. They should not be disturbed during that time.
  • • Fee deposit will be accepted from 1.30 pm to 3:00 pm unless other time is specified.
  • • Students should stand in a queue for availing services from office. Examination and other forms must be filled correctly in advance and get checked from class teachers to avoid delay at the counter. All supporting documents must be attached to the application forms.
  • • Office people will not be responsible for mistakes in application form.
  • • Extra money/Board charges to get corrected the mistakes from the university or other agencies must be borne by students only.

PAYMENT OF DUES:

1. The college fees once paid will not be refunded even if the student leaves the college at any time during the session.

2. The student has to make his dues clear in four installments:

1. At the time of admission

2. Second week of August.

3. Last week of October.

4. Second week of January.

(Exact dates of payments will be announced through official notice to the students)

2. The principal reserves the right to impose any fine on violation of college norms

3. The students can make the payment either in cash, credit/debit card or through online banking.

OTHER GUIDELINES:

Free periods must be spent in the library/reading room. Students should leave the campus after lecture hours are over unless they have been assigned some work in the lab or library or in sports or other programmes.

VISITORS:

Parents/relatives must report at reception. No male/female visitors can meet any girl student without prior permission. Do not invite other students to campus without permission.

IDENTITY CARDS:

Students should always keep their college identity cards with them. Required in library, computer lab, office etc. when demanded by staff or security.

GRIEVANCES:

Grievances of any kind must be intimated to the grievance cell constituted in the college.

CERTIFICATES & CREDENTIALS:

1. All students should retain sufficient attested copies of mark lists, credentials and certificates.

2. Applications for character and TC certificates should be given at least two days in advance.

3. A duplicate copy of any certificate will be issued on payment of prescribed fee.

COLLEGE PROPERTIES:

Take utmost care of all college properties. It is to be used by the coming generations too.

1. Any furniture in the classroom or other places must not be removed from its place without permission from the class teacher/office staff. Furniture taken from a place must be replaced immediately after use.

2. Each student must bear the cost of repairing and replacing all articles of furniture, library books etc. lost, broken, and damaged by him/her.

3. Notice boards in the classrooms and at common places must not be tampered with. They should not write, scratch into the college walls or furniture.

MID SEMESTER TESTS AND EXAMINATIONS:

Examination results are an acid test of the progress of studies of students in the present academic atmosphere. In order to check this, periodic tests will be held from time to time. A full fledged test as per PSEB pattern will be held in the month of September, December & March. Eligibility for Board exam will be determined on the basis of a student's performance in the test.
