CELEBRATING 103rd BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF FAMOUS AUTHOR AMRITA PRITAM
Today, August 31, 2022, Punjabi Department of the Trinity College Jalandhar, organized an inter-college essay writing competition and guest lecture on 103rd birth anniversary of the great punjabi literature writer Amrita Pritam. Amrita Pritam was the first woman who has produced work in Punjabi literature. With an aim to make the students of the new category aware of the life of Amrita Pritam and her contribution to Punjabi literature, an inter-college essay writing competition was organized on August 29, 2022 in which 52 students from 12 colleges of Punjab participated in the competition. The students wrote articles on the topic “Amrita Pritam: Life and Contribution to Punjabi Literature” through hard work and research. On August 30, 2022, the result of this essay competition was uploaded on the college website www.trinitycollegejal.com. In which Lovepreet Kaur, a student of MA-Punjabi from Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, secured the first position, Prabhdeep Kaur, a student of MA-Punjabi from Doaba College, Jalandhar, got the second position and Monika, a student of BA from Baba Saheb BhimRao Ambedkar Government Co-Education College, Buta Mandi, Jalandhar, and Puneet Kaur, a student of BA LLB from Khalsa College of Law, Got the third position.

Today, on August 31, a guest lecture was organized on the life of Amrita Pritam ji and her contribution to Punjabi literature. On this occasion, The Head of the Department of Punjabi, Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, Dr. Surinder Pal Mand attended as a resource person. The programme began with devotional music. Principal of Trinity College, Dr. Ajay Parashar and Head of Punjabi Department. Asst. Prof. Ashok Kumar welcomed the chief guest with a bouquet of flowers. After this, Dr. Surinder Mand ji strengthened the association of the students towards literature by informing the students of the college about the life, various aspects of amrita pritam ji’s life and various streams/ ideologies of Punjabi literature written by her in a very interesting way. On this occasion, Director of Trinity Group of Institutes Rev. Father Peter Kavumpuram congratulated the teachers of all punjabi departments and faculty of arts for designing this programme. The winners of inter-college essay competition were felicitated with certificates and momentos by the management of Trinity College. After this, Assistant Professor Ashok Kumar, Head of the Department of Punjabi and Faculty of Arts, thanked everyone from the bottom of his heart through his speech. Finally, leaving behind his unforgettable memories, the programe ended with the national anthem. In the program, The Director of Trinity Group of Institutes Adv. Rev. Father Peter Kavumpuram Ji, Assistant Director of Timt Rev. Fr. William Sahota Ji, Principal of Trinity College Dr. Prof. Ajay Parashar, Head of Punjabi Department and Faculty of Arts, Assistant Professor Ashok Kumar, Program Coordinator Dr. Malkiat Singh, Dr. Rekh, Assistant Professor Daljit Kaur, Assistant Professor Karanvir, Assistant Professor Namrata Sanghwal , Assistant Professor Prabhjot, Assistant Professor Zeenat, Assistant Professor Raman Kumar Sharma, Assistant Professor Sangeeta and college students participated.
